I've been getting some wonderful emails from people who have created writing spaces for their children after reading about ours.
And all I can say is: Wow! When you guys get an idea, you sure do amazing things with it. Don't you agree?
Can you believe the sensational little writing center that Katherine Marie created for her kids? I'm swooning over the adorable peek-a-boo chalkboard, the vintage (yes, vintage!) chalkboards, the bow-embellished glass jars, and the clothes-pinned labels. Every detail just blows me away. You can see more of her breathtaking photographs (of this project and so many others) on her blog.

And the always-inspiring Mariah from Playful Learning designed an atelier for her girls that looks so sun-drenched and well-stocked that I wouldn't be surprised if it was the most popular room in the house. I know I could spend all day, every day in a room like this! My favorite part of this room? Why the name, of course! Who could help but be creative in a room called an atelier? (Read more about this room and the idea behind it on Mariah's blog).
I am just so excited about all of the young writer's workshops happening out there! If you have put a little something like this together, even on a smaller scale, please share. Put a link in the comments, or email me with a picture that I can post, so we can all take a peek.
And thanks Katherine Marie, Erika, and Mariah for sharing your pictures and ideas. It's just too cool for me to hear that our space inspired you. The truth is, your interpretations of the young writer's workshop have inspired me so much.
What do you guys think?
I stand in amazement... I want to do that!

All beautiful! And I can't wait to check out the corresponding blogs! We have a "Creativity Corner" which is actually a huge shelf next to the kitchen table. The girls are just as likely to be found writing in spiral notebooks under the table as gluing glitter on top of it. But at the moment we are re-painting the house so the entire contents of the downstairs are sort of piled in that area. : ( Seeing those beautiful areas in your post makes me feel like finishing this home improvement project TODAY!

Wow. I hopped over to your blog when I got your comment -- talk about
inspiration! I'm so inspired to cook something with my son today. My only
question is, which one of your recipes do I try first? Really beautiful blog
(and mouth-watering photos!).

Wow! Thanks for sharing these inspiring spaces and for including Playful Learning :) It is so wonderful to see a great concept shared and adapted across the web.

Thank you! I'm so new to blogging so I truly appreciate the comment. How old is your son? My boys are 7 and 8 so they're able to do a lot of the recipes but if you have a younger child I can guide you to some that will work for you.

Hi, I dropped in on your post and was totaly swept away with the idea of making a writers workshop for my youngest - she's 4 and ahalf. I spent all yesterday afternoon putting it all together and finding all my bits and bobs that were spread out over the whole house. She and her older brother and sister got back in time for tea, so I waited until she had eaten until I showed her the corner i had made. I had to make a phone call and when I came back, all 3 of them were happily writing. The eldest (age 9) was writing a story, the middle one ( age 7) was drawing a picture of a formula 1 race and adding comments all around as if the commentater was speaking and the youngest was making a careful alphabet in a tiny little note book. I only had a small 1 person table so I think my final purchase must be a table for 3 children...... now where (in England) can I find that?!!!!
Thank you so much for the inspiriation - the results have been heart warming!

Wow! This is great. I'm a little late to the party but I'm so glad I finally came. Thank you for posting that lovely writing center with the antique touches. How cool that your original writer's center was the inspiration. I still remember your post on that. My youngest is not quite two so I've held off on doing something like this for fear she will try to eat everything as she does with everything else, but this idea is so tempting, I think I'm going to at least start with a writer's toolbox for my son, who's almost four.
