Biography

My name is Jennifer and I am a resourceful Mom and a pediatric occupational therapist. These two roles give me a daily appreciation (bordering on obsession!) for the art and science of child development. I am in constant awe of my four year old son Jack, and his brand new baby sister Gracie.

I wear other hats too: I am a freelance writer, I present conferences and workshops for parents and professionals, and I do consulting as well. I have been an occupational therapist for over ten years and currently have my own private practice. I have always specialized in pediatrics, partly because of my fascination with the subject of child development and partly because, in spite of all of my higher education, I have consistently found children to be the world's best teachers. In terms of formal eduation, I earned both my Bachelors degree in English and my Masters degree in occupational therapy from NYU.

In addition to loving every minute of being a mom, my other greatest joy in life is being married to an amazing man -- a resourceful Dad who works exhaustively every day to build us the life of our dreams.

I hope you find some ideas here about the "hows" and "whys" of getting young children ready to write. Each scribble and mark your child makes is a page in their own life story, and home is where that story begins.
